What are you putting up with?
As a massage therapist, I heard over and over again that my clients felt tense in their muscles. Usually this tension was not resulting from a one- time event, like over-exerting themselves in some way.
No, this tension was their everyday baseline. It might be worse if they hadn’t gotten a massage in a while, or if something extra stressful was going on in their lives.
And sometimes they would be in a lot of pain, that seemed to come out of nowhere. “I slept wrong” (that’s always mine!) or “I just tweaked my back when I bent down to pick something up and that’s what did it”.
But I knew from my own experience and from working on so many bodies over the years that this wasn’t true.
It was the result of the constant excess tension that we as humans tend to carry around.
Does this sound familiar?
It makes me wonder….
Are you just living with constant excess tension, thinking that it is NORMAL to feel this way?
It’s not.
Common, yes. But not normal.
We do need some muscular tension to function. To move and do what we need to do, and remain upright when we want to be. But we are also meant to fully relax AND only use as much tension as necessary to get the job done.
But it seems that a lot of people don’t even know that it is possible to FULLY relax on a regular basis. They think they have to just live with the feeling of non-stop tension.
“That’s life!”
“I’m just getting older”
“I always carry my tension up in my shoulders”
I’m here to tell you that YOU actually have so much power to change how you feel in your body and in your life.
With some time and attention you can make really big shifts in both areas.
Do you need help with constant tension? How is it affecting you?
What else are you putting up with in your life that doesn’t feel good?
I’d love to chat about it. It brings me great joy to share with you some simple things that can help you see what you are "tolerating" and how to move towards a reduced tension lifestyle. One small step at at a time.
So let's chat, huh? Book a Connect Call with me to see what it might look like for us to work together.
